Heat Pumps

If you are interested in a natural and renewable source of heat for your home, you need to consider adding a heat pump system to your home. These systems have been used for years to harness the latent heat that occurs in the ground, water and air which surrounds your home.

Although natural temperature fluctuations do occur during the day, it is possible to harvest enough heat from these sources and transfer that heat into the central heating system in your home.
Because this heat comes from natural solar radiation, it is replenished on a daily basis in a way that does not create any pollution.

How Heat Pumps Heat Your Home

Once you have installed the heat pump, it uses a system of tubing that allows a refrigerant to travel through the region where heat will be collected.
This then travels back to your home where the heat is transferred.

It does take some electricity to do this but overall, heat pump systems are extremely energy efficient and very cost effective.
In general, for every unit of electricity used to run your system, you are able to produce three to four units of heat, which makes it very efficient indeed.

Types of Heat Pumps

There are actually three types of heat pumps that can harvest heat from different sources.
The system of tubing can be installed vertically or horizontally depending on how much space you have around your home.

Sources of heat that can be harvested by the heat pump include:

  • Water (heat is harvested from wells and rivers)
  • Air (heat is harvested from the outside air)
  • Ground (heat is harvested from the soil surrounding your home)

What A Consultation Will Entail

If you are interested in a consultation regarding a heat pump system, one of our qualified technicians can meet with you to determine exactly which kind of system will suit you best.
For example, if you are interested in having one of these systems installed but do not have enough property to make a ground or water system feasible, we will be able to install an air heat pump system that can help heat your home very efficiently, even in temperatures nearing -20°C.

We will also discuss what installation will entail and whether any additional equipment would be called for in order to make your system as efficient and inexpensive to operate as possible.
