Components of A Solar Water Heating System
There are several components to a solar water heating system.
The sunlight is collected by a solar panel mounted on a roof or other unobstructed area of your home.
Solar collectors include:
- Flat panel systems which are the type we are most familiar with
- Evacuated tube systems which are much more efficient than flat panel systems
Heat that is trapped by the solar collector and the water that is warmed by this heat is stored in an insulated storage tank in order to preserve the heat.
Active systems use pumps and compressors in order to move the water around and passive systems do not.
